You probably know the story by heart. She had been hemorrhaging for 12 years without relief. She had seen all of the specialists, but to no avail. Her only hope lay in the healer. She knew that if she could only touch the hem of His garment she would be made whole. So she pressed through the crowd and from behind stretched out her hand to the garment of Jesus. Amid the throng pressing in around Him, Jesus felt the touch of one truly seeking Him. The touch of someone who knew that He had what they needed.
How easy it is to become like that crowd. Pressing in to be near Jesus, to be able to say, "I was there. I even touched Him." only to fall away when the excitement wears off or the next fad comes along. Among the many was the one, the one who was truly seeking Jesus. At the touch of that one, Jesus instantly took notice. Hundreds of hands, from all sides and yet He feels the light touch at the hem of His garment.
Are you just part of the crowd, merely along for the ride? If you are, then the Lord takes no notice of you. Or, are you grasping for the hem of His garment seeking the healing He has to offer? He feels your touch and wholeness is yours.
Mike,
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed with your devotionals. I didn't realize what an awesome writer you are. I will try to check in each day. Starting tomorrow, I will be using these at Loving Hands to improve our morning devotional. Thank you for doing this each day.

Need to add that I'm very sorry about your grandmother. I'm glad you had that relationship with her. So many people these days do not have wonderful memories of their parents or grandparents. It's so refreshing to hear to read your comments.
